First day of class – 9/2

Yesterday was a gloriously beautiful day with the sun shining and the weather at that perfect temperature between too hot and too cold. Today, as classes officially begins, I look out my window and it is like I entered the great depression. It is so gloomy outside it is almost as if the sun abandoned Ann Arbor once school started. And why is it so chilly?

Ok so a summer in California may have made me a tiny bit bitter about the weather here, but it is truly a deplorable sight. I read somewhere if you wake up with a smile on your face you will be in a more positive mood otherwise for the rest of your day. Well looks like I’m taping my mouth to my cheeks cause when I woke up today, I was most definitely NOT smiling.

However don’t take this to mean I’m not looking forward to the year. I’m in college and if I learned anything, it is how to complain, and subsequently how to deal with it. Michigan is still filled with a ton of things to experience, and one would be a fool to not look forward to the year.

Back for Senior Year

Hi Guys,

It has been a long time, a VERY long time since I’ve posted. It was summer and my mind got sidetracked. However as I enter my Senior year I’m reminded of everything single thing I love about college, especially U of M.

This blog was a project I started for me, hopefully other U of M students and anybody else with just any college story to share. I haven’t been as active as I should/can be and I apologize. I’m back now, and I have A LOT of stories left.

What made me post this was another wordpress post I found online through facebook (of course) and it was literally (no not literally) like a train hit me, a train of past memories, of freshman sophomore junior year. This is the post below. Enjoy the read. I sure as hell did.

Let it snow..for a bit

This gallery contains 5 photos.

Snow, it is a love hate relationship. I am so excited we finally get some snow, it just doesn’t seem like a real Michigan winter without that fresh blanket of snow in the morning. Now I can finally cross those … Continue reading

What picture does your life paint?

This is my outlook on life, and I dedicate it to Professor Christopher Peterson. He was literally the happiest man in the world, where his brilliance was only paralleled by the size of his heart. October 9 2012 this school and world lost a truly great person, and this post is dedicated to him.

This here is life. point A is the moment you are born, point B is the moment you die.

This is boring. If this is your life you are just merely existing. This is your life if you just go through the movements and do what many college students call “wtvr.” This isn’t a life, it is a flatline, like the heart monitor attached to a person that has passed on it indicates an absence of life.

Maybe every once you do something different, instead of going through the motions you live in the moment and that flat line spikes. And it doesn’t just spike, it curves and loops around, going forward and backwards and the focus is not on point A and point B, but on the path in between. Then your life might look something like this.

It’s better, much better, however once again it gets boring. Looking at this picture will get boring and you will wonder why it isn’t more. So make it more. Add colors, add more curves, add more loops, intertwine your life with others and add more lines. Discover new things, uncover a passion. Let go of things that hold you back and grab on to the things that don’t. Then your life might look like this.

Messy. Well life is messy. However this is a much more interesting picture. This is a much more interesting life. But take a step back and look at the big picture, look at a life with no regrets. A life which you trekked with love, passion, and zeal. That mess becomes a beautiful picture. And the best part is since it is YOUR life, something YOU have control over, you can paint that picture however you want. And when you look back, it might look something like this.

Beautiful. There is no point A or point B, just…life. YOUR life. Now that is a picture you won’t get tired of seeing. So my message to you is: stop flatlining, and start painting.

College Thinking #1

So, I was in the stall of the boy’s bathroom on the first floor of the UGLI and I was pleasantly surprised somebody made sure I wouldn’t be bored in there. Rate your shit by movie title. Many thoughts came to mind. The Avengers, King Kong, Deep Impact…However for me on that particularly fateful day I would have to name it…Apocalypse NOW.
